Investing Together for a Sustainable Washoe County
Why is this Fund necessary?
Weather-related emergencies and other environmental challenges are impacting Northern Nevada
Urban heat, wildfires, smoke and air pollution, atmospheric rivers, floods, higher energy bills, microplastics and toxins in our water and food are getting worse … unless we do something.
Solutions are possible
More trees, renewable energy, community gardens, energy-efficient homes and businesses, resilient landscapes, low-emission vehicles and equipment, and more sustainable products from a vibrant local economy.
But who will pay for them?
After the loss of federal and state support for local sustainability and climate solutions, private donors established this Fund to invite donations and invest in local solutions here in Washoe County. We can no longer wait for others to provide the funding we seek. It’s up to us. Luckily, there is sufficient wealth in this region to advance the solutions we need.
Investing in projects that bring meaningful benefits to our region
This Fund brings the best sustainability minds of the region together with donors who care and organizations with proven track records to implement projects that clear our air, lower people’s energy bills, improve public health, and build a circular, resilient economy, with an emphasis on delivering benefits for those who live on the front lines of impacts.
Whether you have money to support inspirational projects, or an amazing project idea that can improve lives, join us! Let’s make good things happen! ¡Juntos Podemos!
